More Gaming Revivals Inbound

Don’t look now, but your childhood is trying to pick your pocket again.

The supposedly recession-proof games industry is mining its back catalog for free money, and Nintendo struck a pure vein of Metroid Prime. The rerelease of the surprisingly successful FPS trilogy will be retrofitted with gestural aiming and crammed on one $50 disc. The compilation will hit stores in August, and it’s a pretty good value if you’ve never played the series before.

360 owners aren’t out in the cold, though. The German USK rating board has just revealed a rating for a special edition of The Secret of Monkey island. Although no details are available at present, it seems like a fairly safe bet that the title will be shoveled directly onto XBLA. That said, “special edition” suggests some perquisites, so perhaps it’s not unreasonable to hope for an update of some sort.
