No More Heroes 2: Desperate Lingerie

May 24th, 2010 by pixelsocks

This is a little pornier than the usual site fare, but it’s entirely too fascinating to pass up. The ongoing mainstreaming of gaming has taken some unexpected turns over the years, but I just never get used to it. This week we have a new line of lingerie based on No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.

The sensational game from Grasshopper Manufacture has been adapted by Bedtime Flirt into three sets of skimpy outerwear. The outfits attempt to model UAA agent Sylvia, apprentice samurai Shinobu, and weapons designer Naomi. However, as source CVG notes, “you’ll realise that the only items that make any sort of connection to the game characters – rain coat, gloves, giant grey wig – aren’t actually included.” So the apparel doesn’t cross over into cosplay, but there is a connection inasmuch as Sylvia, Shinobu, and Naomi spend the whole game in lingerie.

Most news outlets can’t make it three paragraphs without shaming the distributors (even in jest), but it’s really a warm fuzzy to know that a licensing deal like this can make it off the ground. As more people try to make a buck from video games, gaming weaves tighter into the fabric of culture and economy. Before you know it, they might start treating us like real people and not coke addicts.
