It’s hard to believe that two years have passed since that teaser was released. However, if the 600 days of silence hadn’t convinced you that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is dead, then the departure of series creator Michael Ancel from Ubisoft may. The publishing giant hasn’t officially canceled the project yet, but the game’s history doesn’t make the odds look good.
Beyond Good and Evil was a critical darling on its release, but only a sleeper at retail. So it’s hardly a surprise that Ubisoft dragged its feet releasing a sequel. Now, without a driving creative voice to buoy the project, it will likely drift into IP squatting obscurity.
In lighter news, family has left town, so I’ll have a review for Wednesday and the normal update schedule will resume on Monday. Cold comfort, though; until that day, Pey’j.
